Why it is in the collection
Older cats often grow thick claws that split under a clipper, and some cats hate the snap. A slow, low grinder is the gentler way through, and the routine is the same.
Before you buy
Use the clipper for a quick snip of the tip and the grinder to smooth the edge afterwards. For thick claws that split, or cats that flinch at the click, use the grinder on its own.
Switch it on at the lowest speed a little way off while they lick the mat, so the sound comes with a treat. Next session, touch the body of the grinder to a paw. Only then touch a claw, for a second or two at a time.
The grinding head warms up with long contact. Work in short passes of a second or two per claw and it stays comfortable.
